South Sefton College (SSC) welcomed Year 10 and 11 athletes from schools across Merseyside to its state-of-the-art learning and sports campus on Thursday 13th June for the launch of the Basketball Centre of Excellence. Slam dunk
This year, South Sefton’s Basketball Team was the most successful we have ever had. After winning the Merseyside College League and Cup, finishing unbeaten the team’s attentions turned to the National Cup. South Sefton were playing for a place in the last 8 of the country when they faced Stockport Basketball Academy, narrowly losing out, with a lot of players feeling they had under-achieved, which just underlines how far they had come. Order in Court!
Over the past couple of weeks, ten A-Level Law students have been taking part in a mock sentencing court in order to further their understanding of the English Legal System and to demonstrate to the AS law students what a sentencing court is like in real life. Click here to read the full story

Visiting New York with Drama and Law was an experience nobody will ever forget! It was definitely a once in a life time trip (even though Paul’s been twice!), that not only helped with our knowledge of Law and Drama but also allowed us to experience the fantastic sights in the city and form new friendships. On Monday 11th February, SSSFC hosted an event for A-level Spanish students from across Merseyside to broaden their understanding of Guillermo del Toro's, Pan's Labyrinth. As this film is a part of the curriculum, it was a great opportunity to motivate students to further discuss their opinions and interpretations of the film, whilst getting a more in depth analysis by the event leader, Dr. Carmen Herrero from Manchester Metropolitan University. Students from South Sefton 6th Form College will be jetting off to the final frontiers of physics after winning a college essay writing competition. The students have been invited to visit CERN (the European organisation for nuclear research), the world’s largest particle research laboratory in Geneva, along with other students from across the region and UK.
